The Distributed Music Group develops enabling technologies and musical works which create new connections among composers, performers, listeners, students, and educators. Through computer vision and mobile devices, we facilitate mass-audience participation in live concert performances. Through real-time music notation systems, we connect the creative activities of those audiences to performing musicians. Through networked music environments, we extend the excitement of such collaborations beyond the concert hall.
“Composing’s one thing, performing’s another, listening’s a third. What can they have to do with each other?” —John Cage
