Oliver Jan is a graduate student pursuing his Masters Degree in Music Technology. As a member of the Music Intelligence Group, he is currently doing music information retrieval (MIR) research under the guidance of Professor Parag Chordia. His other research interests include audio signal processing, music instrument engineering, sound editing and design, acoustic energy and speech recognition.

Oliver graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2006 with a B.S. in electrical engineering and a minor in computer science. He worked at Symbolic Sound Corporation in Champaign, IL as a hardware engineer in 2007.

Oliver represents the music technology department in the Graduate Student Senate and plays the violin in the Georgia Tech Symphony Orchestra.
