Mason Bretan graduated from UC San Diego with a degree in Interdisciplinary Computing and the Arts. During his time at UCSD he learned how the techniques of computer science, engineering, and physics could be applied not only to scientific research, but musical applications as well. He is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist and has enjoyed playing professionally as a drummer in the realms of jazz, electroacoustics, and free improvisation. After working for a year as a computer programmer in an auditory physiology lab at the Washington University School of Medicine he joined the Music Technology program at Georgia Tech in the fall of 2010. His interests include interactive music technologies, acoustics, audio DSP, and music cognition.
